Numerous department stores around the area have been closing down this year. Sears, one of the main anchors of Hawthorn Mall in Vernon Hills, closed because it was unable to compete with the lower prices in stores such as Walmart and they struggled as customers began to prefer online shopping over going to a physical store.

The leading player, performed by sophomore Rachel Erdmann, was the ring leader, obsessed with giving the audience a great show. She guided Pippin through his own story and intervened at the end when Pippin’s decision is not what she had anticipated.

Dr. Tom Koulentes opened up the discussion addressing his time spent at LHS and his disappointment with the seniors’ first day senior shirt decision. Every year, senior students show up on the first day with phrases on their shirts regarding usage of alcohol. This year’s shirts read “Less Thinking, More Drinking.”

A rest stop for students outside the library and the A-F LST has been installed, where students are able to sit, study, eat and drink during their free periods. This seating opens up more opportunities for students who would like to work on homework or study during lunch periods.
