Football defeats Lake Forest, keeping playoff hopes alive
In a conference matchup, the Wildcats defeated Lake Forest on Friday, Oct. 18, by a final score of 23-10.
Senior Shaun Luce rushed for two touchdowns, one of which was a 57-yard TD to seal the game with 3:02 left in the fourth quarter.
Junior quarterback Blake Ellingson completed 25 of his 34 passes while throwing for 248 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown pass was a 15-yard crossing route to senior Sean Wittenbrink midway through the fourth quarter.
Linebacker Trace Batesky came up big for the Wildcats, catching an interception on the Scouts’ final drive of the game, which allowed the Cats to run out the clock.
Libertyville, now with a 4-4 record, needs a win next week against Zion-Benton to be eligible for the IHSA playoffs. The Wildcats hope to avenge last year’s 48-0 loss against the Zeebees; the game is set for 7:30 p.m. at home next Friday, Oct. 25.
