Student Predictions for the Future

We asked students, in a survey sent to the entire school, what specific predictions they have for the future, about any topic and over any time span. Here are some of their predictions:

Fish
There will be no fish left in the sea in 50 years. - Greta Schultz, senior

Global Warming
While our world may be getting more technical and smart, there won't be enough people to take action about global warming and pollution to stop it from killing our Earth. - Hailey Baffico, 9

Planets
We are going to have to find another planet to live on. - Lily, freshman

Climate Change
Climate change will likely become irreversible and kill the population sometime in the next 100 years. - Nick Mahon, sophomore

Coronavirus
Covid-19 will become a normal part of life in the next 10 years (like the flu or a cold). - Emma Keeble, freshman

Masks
We will have to keep wearing masks in public in America for at least another year. - Ivy Schafer, junior

Covid-19
Covid-19 protocols will never fully go away. - Jack H., junior

In-person Learning
We will be fully in-person by the time school starts this fall. - Emily Fink, sophomore

Snow Days
Snow days won’t exist anymore because teachers can just assign work remotely. - Eleni Rappa, freshman

VR
One day in the future, virtual reality technology will be so advanced that people will practically live inside a virtual world (like in "Ready Player One"). - Kaitlin Gowens, senior

Phones
No-phone vacations/cafes/restaurants will be famous because of excessive technological innovations. - Zeel Shukla, senior

Mars
In 20 years, there’ll be people living on Mars. - Aditi Nair, freshman

State Championship
The Cats bring home another state championship in the next 5 years. - Matt Stokovic, senior

2022 Midterms
Republicans will retake the House of Representatives and Raphael Warnock will lose his U.S. Senate seat in 2022. - Christopher Hanagan, junior

Seattle Mariners
The Seattle Mariners will make the playoffs by 2025 for the first time since 2001. - Matthew Ramaker, sophomore

Heelys
Heelys will make a huge comeback. - Charlie Freund, sophomore

College Applications

TikTok

E-readers
In the next couple of decades people will no longer want to read hard-copy books. Everything you can read will be on electronics. - Maggie Forkner, sophomore

Automobiles

Flying Cars
