Is heaven for real? The amazing new movie, Heaven Is For Real, says, “yes.” And so do I.
I recently saw this incredible film in theaters and it was one of the most mesmerizing movies I have ever seen. I always believed that heaven was for real my entire life, but this movie really made me think about it a whole different way. I always imagined heaven as huge golden gates, with tons of people who are now angels on one side of them. Heaven Is For Real, however, describes heaven in a way that can’t even be put into words.
The first time the image of heaven was shown on screen, I couldn’t believe my eyes. Honestly, at first, it scared me. I don’t even understand why a sight as beautiful as heaven would startle me. Perhaps it was the cheesy green screen? I’m not saying the sight was bad. It was really incredible once you got used to the sight of it. It was just pretty obvious that it was a green screen. Basically, the heaven that Heaven Is For Real, conjured up, was, for one thing, incredibly bright. At first it was almost blindingly bright. When your eyes finally adjust, you would see clouds and a few angels floating up in the sky. The angels’ faces weren’t very visible, but you could make out the smallest outline of a human figure and on either side, wings.
My favorite thing, however, about this entire movie was Jesus. We didn’t really see Jesus’s face that much throughout the movie, but when we finally saw the painting of Jesus we found that he doesn’t look like what we have always pictured. He looks so different. As Colton Burpo, the main character, explained to his father, Jesus is hard to describe. He’s too perfect to be described. Perfection is hard to explain when it only exists in Jesus Christ.
The only thing that I would say bothered me about the movie was some of the acting. I personally didn’t think that Connor Corum was a good choice to play Colton. He seemed hesitant with his lines and somewhat awkward. All I’m saying is the lead role could have been better.
Even though this movie was outstanding, I would probably only give it four stars out of five. The graphics were slightly odd, the acting could have been better, but the story makes up for what was lost, and let me tell you: heaven is for real!
