The Wind Symphony performs “Hymn for US” in the Highland Park High School Auditorium. James Stephenson, the composer, said, “[Through this piece], I wanted to reflect on the solemn events that took place, but also to express the hope and the strength of the community that was evident to any of those who were watching the news.”
On October 18th, 2023, Highland Park High School’s Wind Symphony premiered “Hymn for US,” a piece composed by nationally renowned Lake Forest composer James Stephenson, in memory of the shooting on July 4th, 2022. The LHS Marching Wildcats supported HPHS in commissioning the piece, with funds being raised by students during the annual Marching Band Camp Change Drive.
