It’s been four years since your best friend was murdered in front of you, but it seems like just yesterday. You are walking in a park when you notice a dog. You are shocked to realize the dog’s owner is the murderer of your best friend. You know you have to do something and you don’t have much time to decide…
- Deal with the murderer yourself → see option1a
- Take the murderer to the authorities → see option1b
Option1a
You decide to deal with the murderer yourself. You stop the murderer by blocking their path.
“You killed my friend,” you mutter. The murderer gives you an odd look.
“Look, I was paid to do it, I have nothing against you or your friend. I just wanted my money. So how about we drop this?” the murderer requests. You know your answer.
- Drop the matter → see option2a
- Don’t drop the matter → see option2b
Option 1b
You pull out your phone and start dialing 911. The murderer doesn’t notice and keeps walking. You use this to your advantage and slowly follow them. You’re waiting for the police station to answer. Unfortunately you weren’t very sneaky and the murderer notices you. They turn to face you.
“Why are you following me?” the murderer asks.
“You know what you did…” you angrily respond.
“Huh?” the murderer is confused.
“You murdered my best friend!” you exclaim, some heads turn towards you. You cut the call because nobody is answering. The murderer’s eyes widen in surprise.
“Look, I was paid to do it,” the murderer says. “I have nothing against you or your friend. I just wanted my money. So how about we drop this?” You know your answer.

Option 2a
“Well. . . I guess it was in the past. . .” you say.
“Okay, great,” they respond. You turn and take a deep breath. Your inhales feel sharp . . . no, that’s not your breathing… You look down and see a blade sticking out of your stomach.
“Sorry, I lied. But I can’t have a witness running around . . .”
Everything goes black. . .
You got the bad ending.
Option2b
“No! Do you think I’m stupid? You literally committed murder!” you exclaim. Many eyes are now watching discreetly.
“SHH! Don’t shout so loud!” the murderer hisses.
“That’s a good idea!” you realize. You gather as much air as possible. “SOMEONE CALL THE POLICE! THERE’S A MURDERER HERE!” you scream.
“NO! DON’T LISTEN TO THEM. THEY’RE A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR!” the murderer shouts. You keep screaming for help.
The murderer realizes they are failing, and will be in trouble if they don’t do something about you. So they take out a small blade. You see this and feel alarmed. However all these years you haven’t been wasting time- you’ve been preparing to avenge your friend. The murderer lunges at you- but using the skills you’ve learned you swiftly dodge the attack. This game of dodging doesn’t last because the police arrive quickly. In mere moments they’ve handcuffed the murderer. You’re surprised. An officer approaches you.
“Are you hurt? There is an ambulance on the way.” the officer says.
“No, I’m fine, but how was the police station alerted?” you ask.
“We got multiple calls claiming there was a murderer on the loose, and this murderer was attacking a high-school student.” the officer explains. You feel grateful, your shouting must’ve worked, and some people called the police. From here on out, you know the authorities will know what to do with the criminal. Nobody will be murdered the same way your friend was murdered.
You got the good ending.
