On Thursday, November 14, 2024, 14 seniors signed their intent to play a sport at the collegiate level. Ranging from division 1 to division 3, these athletes have all dedicated years of time and effort into working towards this goal. As these seniors sign, the stressful recruiting process has come to an end, and the security of officially being a collegiate athlete has begun. Friends, family, commits, and coaches all filled the stands to commemorate the athletes signing. Each athlete was individually called up to the signing table, as Athletic Director John Woods announced the name of each athlete, their future school, and their sport.
The act of signing to solidify the commitment to continue both academic and athletic careers at a university is rare. According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), approximately 6% of high school student athletes go on to compete at the collegiate level. Although the statistics are low, these student-athletes have prioritized their dedication to their sports, which has now allowed them to be a part of this percentile.
