On December 11, the varsity girls basketball team dominated the Stevenson Patriots with an ending score of 52-20. The Wildcats showed nothing short of immense perseverance and steeze, when they scored more than double the score of their opponent.
“Overall we played as a team and came out ready.” Senior Sophia Cesnovar (14) said.
To start the game, junior Sophia Swanson (10) swishes a three point shot, giving the Cats a lead on the Patriots, which would continue for the entirety of the game.
Continuing this roll for the Cats, point guard and sophomore Lily Fisher (3) scores two free throws after being fouled.
The Patriots attempt to work together to get some ball to net action, but they are no match for junior Ella Pawelczyk (13). When interceptions are the name of the game, Pawelczyk is here to play, as this is only one of her five steals.
After snagging the ball, she assists Swanson, who tosses in a layup.
The Patriots struggle to keep possession, allowing for more action and points for the Cats.
At halftime, the score is 28-13, with the Wildcats leaving the Patriots in the dust.
Appreciative of her teammates’ hard work throughout the game, Cesnovar highlights efforts made by senior Elinor Lindal (5).
“Elinor played amazing defense, especially in the first half,” Cesnovar said, “she had really good stamina.”
To begin the second half of a victorious night for the Wildcats, senior Madison Sears (55) scores some of the first points, along with Cesnovar.
The Cats showcased an impressive connection with each other on the court, as their teamwork allowed for ultimate success. One connection being Fishers (3) assist to senior Elinor Lindal (5) who makes a three pointer.
As the game finishes out, Charlotte Harrison is fouled and scores two free throws, pushing the Cats to a score that is more than double the Patriots: 52-25
The Wildcats currently stand at 1st seed in the North Suburban conference.
